Introductory Statement :
SPECIALIST PALLIATIVE CARE: The Hospice of the Good Shepherd is respected in its field as a provider of specialist palliative care. Through our multi-skilled and qualified staff we are able to offer a range of medical treatment and complementary therapies to address symptoms, enhance quality and life and meet a patients holistic needs and physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and social.

Our end of life care provides support, dignity and comfort to those in the terminal stage of an illness, which cannot always be practically provided by the NHS.

We also offer acclaimed bereavement support for adults and children.

In-patient Services
Our in-patient Unit consists of 12 beds, and is run by a dedicated and professional team of clinical and palliative care consultants, medical and nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, administrators, social workers and complementary therapists, and our spiritual care team.
Out-patient Clinics
As well as the palliative care offered by the Hospice in our in-patients beds, we also provide a range of care in our out-patient clinics. Of those who attend these clinics, many have been discharged from a stay at the Hospice, and others have been referred by their healthcare professional.
Living Well Services
In our Living Well Centre, located at the Hospice, Chester, we offer specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. Our trained staff are able to deliver an individual plan of care, designed to address each aspect of a persons needs - medical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual. We aim to provide the tools and assistance needed to allow patients to live well in their own homes.
Complementary Therapies Clinics
We provide Complementary therapies for patients and carers. These therapies can help in managing symptoms and providing a sense of relaxation and wellbeing.
Bereavement Services
At the Hospice of the Good Shepherd we have a dedicated and professional team providing support to people throughout West Cheshire who are dealing with bereavement following the death of a loved one, regardless of when, where or how they died.
Spiritual Care Team
As well as providing physical and emotional care, the Hospice has a Spiritual Care Team, who are available to offer spiritual support to people of all faiths.
Catering & Housekeeping Team
The Hospice of the Good Shepherd has an in-house catering team preparing nutritious, home-cooked food in our newly refurbished kitchen.
Social Work & Family Support
Family Support is available to all patients and their carers and families. The Family Support team consists of qualified palliative care social workers, and the Bereavement Service, a team of counsellors and befrienders.
